Auguste Rodin made him for the top of a doorway, The Gates of Hell, where he sat looking down into it. He was called The Poet then. I captured Rodin in the studio, the doors behind him and Paris through the window, before anyone thought to take the figure off that door and stand him on his own.
What hangs here is the head and the fist, close enough to read the cracks. He has been thinking for almost a hundred and fifty years and the stone has opened up. Whatever he is working out, he has not finished.
